I'm happy to present my latest drawing to you all!
I decided to keep things simple and do a pencil drawing. I have been creating a lot of detailed paintings and mixed-media artworks for this branch of my artistic endeavors, but my 1st love (as far as drawing medias go) has always been the pencil. Nothing brings me more joy and appeals to my natural-inclinations than graphite. I find that utilizing this most-humble and ordinary medium produces a more active and interesting nude. The Art Nouveau master Alphonse Mucha has inspired my cross-hatching technique, and that is where I got the title for this piece as well. Like the piece itself, I wanted the title to be simple and direct, it's a small piece created with 'hatching', so there you have it: "Hatchling". I can almost hear a sigh-of-relief from you as you read this...hooray! no lengthy-entry about vocab! (just kidding!) Don't worry I have more where that came from!!! ;^P Oh yah, and to bring more dimensionality to the piece I added a light-wash of coffee, I love the tones coffee makes, and now that I live in Seattle I feel it is befitting! I practically stay-alive on coffee, so it's nice to pay a kind-of homage to this popular beverage. ^_^
So here it is in all its simple-wonder:
